Ultimate tastemaker Pete Tong is the host of BBC Radio 1's legendary Essential Mix show, featuring the mixing talents of the world's top DJs, including Richie Hawtin, Paul Van Dyk and Armin van Buuren. Tong also breaks hits as a club DJ with summer residencies at Pacha in Ibiza, and gigs at Tennax in Florence, Space in Miami, and Ministry of Sound in London. His podcasts, "Tongcasts," have been downloaded by thousands. As a producer, he has assembled the music for movie soundtracks such as The Beach, Human Traffic, and 24 Hour Party People. His record label, FFRR Records, launched in 1988 and found its first hit in Salt n Pepa's "Push It," followed by a whole catalogue of hit tracks. After all this time, Tong says he hasn't gotten complacent: he maintains a packed DJ schedule, keeping his finger firmly on the pulse of fresh and exciting new music.
